What I’m Doing Now:

A place to note what I’m working on right now—and to help keep me on track, doing what I said I was going to do.

Most Recent Update: 1/11/2026

Quick Look:

  1. Releasing the website as is and letting it be what it is for now, with new content starting in April 2026.

  2. Shifting content to focus on reading-aloud techniques (YouTube) and a developing project I’m really excited about: On the Page, Out Loud—where I take my blogs, talk through the creative process behind writing them, and then share them out loud, exploring how writing, reflection, and reading aloud can open up new ways of thinking and connecting.

Notes:

The creative process always amazes me. I’ve come to realize that rarely—if ever—does everything come together in one, or even three, passes. Each time I think I’ve completed a segment for this website, another insight shows up that informs what I’m thinking next and what I’ve created.

I used to get frustrated with these multiple steps, only to now realize that this is the process. It’s the authentic actions that cause the back-and-forth adjustments. When something lives only in my head, I’m never forced to commit. But once I put pen to paper—or fingers to the keys—I have something tangible to reference. And that’s when the real refining happens.

Through this process, I’ve become more and more clear that I want the content on this website to serve as both a file cabinet of my past work and a placeholder for what I’m doing now. And in that clarity, my focus has shifted.

I initially thought my attention would center on life lessons connected to loss and learning to live with a neuromuscular disorder. While those experiences remain part of who I am, they’re no longer the primary lens through which I want to share my work.

The more I dig into the content, the more I realize I want to share stories, music, and ideas that might be useful to parents, educators, and others—practical, creative offerings that invite reflection and connection.

One example of this is On the Page, Out Loud—a simple practice built around reflection, writing, and, when it feels right, sharing what’s been written. Sometimes that sharing is educational, supporting students as they develop their voices and confidence as writers. Other times, it’s more personal: a way to slow down, make sense of something, or mark a moment.

Not everything needs to be shared—but sometimes, reading words aloud changes how they’re understood. I’m interested in exploring how that practice can live in different spaces: classrooms, workshops, quiet personal reflection, or possibly a shared platform where people choose how and if they participate.

As with everything else here, this is still unfolding. And that feels exactly right.

  • I’m working on the first series of my podcast, planned for release in April. At the moment, that looks like brainstorming, mind-mapping, and trying to figure out what the first series should be.

I’m leaning toward starting with how I’ve come to live by the phrase change can happen, hope does exist—a mantra that’s helped me through the hardest days after my daughter passed away and still guides me today.

So, there will be writing, recording, procrastination, revising, navigating fear, and trying to trust the process. Whew. I’ll let this unfold and share more as I go.

  • Getting ready to publish this website. I’ve been working on this project on and off for years. The list of fears behind why it’s taken so long goes beyond publishing—but I’m sure some of that will find its way into the blog or the podcast. Here we go!
